RUBONDO ISLAND NATIONAL PARK
Rubondo Island National Park comprises nine small islands in Lake Victoria and is the nearest National Park to Bukoba town.

It combines the breath-taking natural beauty of a forest refuge with the relaxing tranquility of sandy lake-shore beaches. It has unique diversity of flora and fauna.

Rubondo is a home of the rare and shy sitatunga, some chimpanzees, water ducks, hippos, bushbucks, vervet monkeys, colobus monkeys, genets, marsh mongoose, suni antelopes and elephants.

Paradise of Birds

Rubondo is a paradise for bird lovers, with nearly 400 species of birds documented in the island.

It has an abundance of herons, storks, ibises, egrets, cormorants, kingfishers, bee-eaters, fly-catchers, hornbills and birds of prey, including the highest density of fish eagles anywhere in the world.
