WALKGARD Hotels & Tours is a tour operator and
Hotel Service Provider, based in Bukoba town, at Kashura Hills and the Walkgard Annex
Hotel at Uganda Road in central Bukoba town. We also organise accomodations at our
clients' request in areas outside Bukoba.
Our Operations and services include Organising and facilitating tours
and Safaris to various destinations in and outside Tanzania.
These include National
Parks, Game Reserves, Historical and Archaeological Sites, Cultural and Recreational
Centres, etc.

Safaris and Cultural Tourism
We organise Wildlife Safaris in Kagera region and nearby countries. We also conduct Site-seeing activites in Kagera to the following spectacular destinations:
Kyamunene Forest
- A short distance drive from Walkgard Hotel in Bukoba. Rubale forest, the waterfalls and a cave in the forest, together form what is known as 'Kyamunene' in local dialect (Luhaya), meaning "UNIQUE".
Bugonzi Water Falls
- This is in Muleba district near Kamachumu town. Here you will see a unique and natural waterfall, generating hydroelectric power for Ndolage Hospital.
Nyakijoga Pilgrimage Centre
- This is a sacred place of worship near Mugana. It is believed that the Virgin Mary, the Mother of Christ made a spectacular and miraculous apparition in the 1950's.
Since then, it has been a focal point for pilgrimage, with thousands of pilgrims from all over the world visiting its healing waters every year.
Rusumo
- It is a small border town with Rwanda in Ngara district. It has feeder rivers to Kagera River from different directions, depicting the spectacular of nature at its best. It is also a reference point for the 1994 Rwanda genocide, where most human bodies thrown into different rivers during the Rwanda genocide were brought by currents and good samaritans fished them out for burial along the river.
Rubondo Island National Park
- The only island that is gazetted as a National Park in Tanzania. It combines the natural beauty forests and tranquility of sandy lake shore beaches. It is a home of rare sitatunga, some chimpanzees, monkeys and over 400 species of birds.
We also organise safaris to Rwanda, Uganda and other destination in Tanzania including Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Mikumi National Parks and Zanzibar.
We provide land and water transport with our motor cars and modern
